I Appreciate You, God

Thanksgiving is three days away now and we always ask our family, friends, and ourselves...What are we thankful for? Its a wonderful holiday that reminds us to be thankful, to think of all the little things everyone has done for you. A moment we get to tell others that you appreciate them.

In my life, I am thankful for my wife. She provided me with another son this year and is a fantastic mother to our kids. When I am stressed and bogged down by job deadlines, she steps in with the helping hand such as  feeding the kids, bathing them, cooking, dishes, laundry, etc. Every little thing she does, I know she does for our family and I greatly appreciate it. She has a saying that I really like, "What makes our marriage work so well is that when one of us is down, the other one steps in to carry the other." Thank you for carrying me in times of stress, for your love, for my two children, and all that you do for us and our family.

I am thankful for my kids who bring joy to my life. I am a truly blessed man to have two healthy boys. My eldest, who is 2 years old, wants to be by my side every second of every day and I love every second of it. Its hard to work from home when you have a two year old coming up to you with a toy that he wishes to play with you, or when he has both arms stretched out because he wants to sit in my lap and hug me. Lately, he likes to walk over, tug on my shorts for me to lean down, just so he can give me a kiss on the cheek. I love being a father to this child. It makes me sad thinking he is going to grow up and I will lose these moments with him forever. I am crying right now as I type this out. If anyone finds out how to stop a 2 year old from ever growing up, please let me know! He is my little guy and I love him so much. We now have our second son and he just now reached the point of smiling followed by little giggles/coos. He has such an adorable smile that makes you smile right back. In another year, my 1 on 1 wrestling matches with my oldest son will become a 2 on 1 battle. I have a year to prepare for two children diving off the couch onto me and running and tackling me and I can't wait! These guys are my little superheroes. Every day, they will do something that just stops me in my tracks and makes me smile.

I am thankful for my mother. When my wife and I needed to move because of financial issues, she welcomed us into her home so we could pay off bills and start to save for a future house. We lived in her home for 3.5 years, paid off our bills, had our first son, and saved up for a house. Not once did she complain nor did she ever want us to leave. For all the countless times you helped with our sons, cooking delicious meals, lifting us up in prayer, encouraging us when we needed a pep talk, and just wanting to spend time with us...thank you. You are the best mother a son could ever ask for. My grandmother set a prime example of what a mother is to be in life, and you have followed her example 100% of the way. Thank you for every thing you have done for me...and my family. We would not have been able to purchase our house if not for your gracious invitation.

I am thankful for my brother, sister in law, niece, nephews, dad, extended family, friends, and coworkers. You all have helped me in life to become a better person. Your relationships and friendships mean so much to me and I appreciate every moment we get to spend with each other, whether in person or by phone. I can never truly express how thankful I am, for you all.

I am thankful for my house that God delivered to us (read about that story HERE). For the vehicle that gets us where we need to go, the pool, all our meals and family time, our health, our finances, and many, many more...I am thankful for it all.

Now, here is the best thing of all...I am thankful for God and Jesus, for they provided it all! Everything I mentioned above is a result of our Father in Heaven. My family kept God as a keystone in our family growing up and he has provided every step of the way. He continues to amaze me. When my wife was going on maternity leave for our newborn, we needed extra income. God delivered in a big way once again. As soon as Magen's maternity leave began, God provided fifty projects on my desk for work (I am a video editor, I get paid per job, and fifty videos is a huge amount of work for a month and a half). I have been working my butt off, day and night (I still take Sundays off for family day and Saturday nights for family movie night). I had to work for it but I am thankful for every hour of work God provided me with because it helped keep my family afloat during her maternity leave. Thank you God for the life you have given me, for the people you surrounded me with, and for making me the man I am today. Please continue to mold me into the man my wife and kids need so I can be the best husband and father possible. I love you God and I love you Jesus. Jesus you are our savior who died on the cross for all our sins. You are the reason why we get to enter through heaven's gates. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

So take this thanksgiving to share how truly thankful you are for one another. Give those people a warm huge and tell them how much they impacted your life this year. Then take a moment to sit with God and let our Father know how much you appreciate His Love and mercy. We are not perfect in this world, yet he provides us with his perfect love.
