Trusting Your Offensive Line

So it’s 4th and 10 in the big game, aka the Super Bowl, there are four big lineman trying to knock you down to the ground. You really can’t even see two of them coming from your back side. Are you going to trust your line and step up and make the throw or try and do it yourself and run?

This can translate to life, think of God as being the best offensive line ever. He’s going to protect us from the devil but we have to trust Him. When we see those big defensive linemen in front of us they can be like obstacles in our life that God has put there for us to trust him. If we have fear and don’t trust that God will be there to protect us, we’ll have run from those fears outside of God's protection, where we are vulnerable. There have been points in my life where I have seen friends and family wonder outside of God's protection before and get deep into things that they shouldn't have. But with love and support from family and getting back closer to God they were able to get back into his protection.

Back when Moses prepared the people for their new life in a new land, he told them of the enemies they would face and not to fear them:

“Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;” - Deut. 7:18

Instead of worrying about what could happen, remember how God has helped you in the past, and how He will again; if you ask,

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” - 1 Corinthians 10:13

Trust in God to be there to protect you just like the quarterback does with his offensive line. When you do, no defensive line will ever be able to take you down. Don’t forget to subscribe and leave us a comment.

  1. It is true that we cannot reach our ultimate spiritual God intended state until we completely abandon ourselves to the perfect infinite love of the Father. It may seem almost trite and often overstated, but that degree of trust can be one of the most difficult things we will ever attempt to obtain. Consider the numerous times the apostles themselves struggled with trust in Christ during their formation. It's something that often feels so foreign to our everyday sensibilities. However, it is possible and indeed necessary to reach this relationship in our journey. With daily prayer and acts of charity toward our neighbors we can turn from our own base desires and strengthen ourselves over time and grow in faith and trust. Ask Christ for the help needed and He will answer in the right time and place. He will provide.
“Christians must lean on the Cross of Christ just as travelers lean on a staff when they begin a long journey. They must have the Passion of Christ deeply embedded in their minds and hearts, because only from it can they derive peace, grace, and truth.”– St. Anthony of Padua
