Why Do Storms Happen?

Just recently in Florida, there was a major hurricane. A category 4  (it was 2 mph away from being a category  5) that has caused death; destruction into the millions, if not billions of dollars. When natural disasters happen, a lot of people wonder why this happens

Back in biblical days, God would let storms happen for a reason like Noah and the ark. God told people there would be rain for 40 days and 40 nights, even though there were no signs of the coming rains. God used the storm to flood the world, to cleanse the planet of evil. Jesus also shares with us this parable:

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” - Matthew 7:24-27

The book of Jonah mentions that God sent a great storm with heavy winds and rains because Jonah was not where he was suppose to be.

"Then the Lord sent a great wind on the sea, and such a violent storm arose that the ship threatened to break up."Jonah 1:4 KJV

At the end of the day, the storm is a terrible thing that happened and if you have any prayer requests, feel free to share with us in the comments or on our pray request page as we all pray for those effected.
