Christian Persecution

In America, we have the freedom to serve God. We probably don't think twice about having our Bible at home or going to church on Sundays. We can even pray anywhere we want out loud and it's legally okay to do so.

Unfortunately, for other countries this is not the case. Certain countries place you in jail, while others might have Christians killed for worshiping God or even saying that you believe in Jesus.

Several websites claim the atheist country of North Korea is the worst to be living in for a Christian. Even though people may face death, still there has been growth in Christianity in North Korea through underground organizations.

"If Christians are discovered...not only are they deported to labor camps as political criminals or even killed on the spot, their families will share their fate as well. Christians do not even have the slightest space in society. Meeting other Christians in order to worship is almost impossible and if some believers dare to, it has to be done in utmost secrecy." - North Korea Persecution of Christianity (Source)

Afghanistan is mostly an Islamic country (99%) and becoming a Christian is banned. Reports have said that family members have been killed because of others finding out that they believed in God and Christianity.

"Because all Christians in Afghanistan are essentially converts, they are unable to express their faith, even in private. In many cases, upon being discovered, these converts are considered insane for leaving Islam. If they cannot be convinced to return to their former faith, they are sometimes committed to psychiatric institutions. Others experience loss of personal property and businesses, beatings and even death at the hands of their own family members and communities. Knowing this, believers risk everything when telling others about Christ, also endangering those they witness to."Afghanistan Persecution of Christianity (Source)

Just recently in China, their government started burning Bibles, destroying crosses, closing churches, and forcing Christian followers to sign papers stating "they denounce their faith in christianity" and display their loyalty to the atheist Communist party. (Source)

"Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you." - 1 Peter 4:12‭-‬14
